This post is for threading with tsuntrader anytime and anywhere. It can be used for Action or the Ring feature on journals to get in contact with him for personal conversations.
[Yeah, yeah, he's walking, he's walking. Away from house 11, away from the first community building. Apartment complex. Whatever. Sneasel trails right by his leg and subtly tugs on Silver's pants to try to express concern, but otherwise keeps quiet, although his eyes don't exactly leave Rin.]
Yeah. And I dunna if they're true or not, but it's gonna be messing up Shiemi if they are, so I'm gonna be hearing the truth out of you- [And now he goes to grab his shoulder again, hard] You gotta girlfriend back home? Crush? That sorta thing? 'Cus if you're leading on Shiemi-!
...Girl- What the- why in the world would he have a- He thinks he's leading Shiemi on? But- he doesn't even- Rin what are you--]
What? [It's not said defensively, it's not said in irritation, in disgust at the idea, in shock, or anything like that. He's a little busy being completely and thoroughly confused.]
[And Rin's shove is more than enough to send Silver to the ground... And annoy him. That's enough of that.]
Would you quit shoving me? [Breathe. Try to deal with this rationally, piece by piece.] How'd you even jump to the conclusion that I'm leading her on? We're friends. [Not what Crys and Gold are, or anything like that. Friends.]]
And I don't have anyone I like like that at home. I've never felt that way about someone before. [Other than... Shiemi. During that experiment around Valentine's day. But the only thing he really remembers about that is that it's not how he feels about her right now.] I've got more important things to worry about.
More important things?! [Than Shiemi? His brain is still on edge. She's still kidnapped, still with them and he still couldn't help her. Skarmy is recovered but she was injured. And as he says this he looms over Silver. His flames start to spread on his head]
[The flames don't intimidate him, but they do prompt him to get up on his feet. He's not exactly fond of the idea of getting tossed around.]
Yeah, Rin. More important things than romance. [But he's starting to get the feeling that there's more to this. There's something that Rin's not saying.] I'm pretty sure that Shiemi believes the same thing.
Don't you talk to me about what Shiemi believes! [His flames roar up higher, and his voice gets louder, echoing. His eyes turn into cat-like slits, and his teeth seem to be sharper. He's partially transforming without drawing Kurikara, basically]
[He can feel the heat of those flames. He can feel the instinctive urge to back away, to not challenge that kind of power, followed by being completely compelled to challenge and fight against that power.
But that's not what he's here for. He's not sure what he's here for. But it's not any of that, and it's not whatever this mess is.] What's this really about, Rin?
At those words, Rin all but fades out of the picture. He stares not at him, but at nothing in particular, and everything seems to fade out of focus.
Yes, he was that kinda guy.
The kinda guy that would zoom in on nothing else but a goal.
The kinda guy that would do just about anything to get at it. That was small, powerless, and ripped and clawed at power to protect, to avenge, to create the chance at a life not walled in by nothing but ice.
That surrendered to a dangerous man's orders. That broke in and stole again and again.
That lived by "the ends justify the means."
That can never truly be a good person 'cause there's always something that reminds him that he can't.]
[But he won't let what was true and what's in the past dictate now. Not in the face of Ho-oh, not in the face of the Mask of Ice, not in the face of Team Rocket, or his father, or some dumb guy with a few flame problems that's yelling at him.
Everything comes into focus, but it's fueled by anger. By adrenaline. By a healthy persistence and a very unhealthy lack of fear. For the moment, the consequences of his actions don't quite feel real.
He stands up. And despite Rin's strength, his anger, and the obvious gap in power, he shoves him with everything he can.]
Yeah, I would have ditched my friends before like that. But that's who I was, not who I am.
If you wanna point fingers, judge me, or pick a fight because of a couple of things a few trees said, go right ahead. Just know that they said Shiemi's leading on her three best friends too, and I don't believe a word of that for a second.
[And suddenly, he's right back to where he was when he rushed off to assault the barrier with Skarmy. Right there and then, he completely loses control. His flames build up. His eyes turn to cat-slits again, but then they go a step further - his irises turn into swirling blue flames themselves. His teeth unnaturally elongate and sparks seem to be coming from Kurikara, wrapped up on his back. He's pushing at the limits of the seal, partially transforming even though the sword is in there.
Tears are also streaming down his eyes. After wailing the what, he just roars. The roar echoes in all directions and flames flush of of him like a wave. A massive wave of blue fire is going to engulf Silver and Sneasel entirely. It's going to shoot up about ten feet straight up and for about thirty feet in all directions from Rin. Inside of it, literally everything which isn't Rin, Sneasel, or Silver is going to be reduced to ashes in his tantrum of pain.
This is the true power of Satan's flames. The grass burns. The topmost layers of soil burn. The trees around them are gone in an instant. A sign left there by Sokka to help out IU Edeard a while back is reduced to Ash. Everything is burning, but burning so fast it can hardly even be called burning]
[The initial wave of flames has him reflexively put his hands in front of his face, has Sneasel begin to pull out his arms for a Protect, and...
And it doesn't burn. Somehow he's in one piece. ...No. No, he's in one piece because of Rin. Despite the fact that he can all but feel Rin's pain and sorrow from that wave of fire, he knows for sure that Rin decided not to hurt him.
And he watches him for a moment. He truly takes in how distraught he is. Another moment is dedicated to give Rin a moment to really let out that wave of frustration, to let him let that out.]
[And then he can't just let him go on. He takes a testing step, to see if the flames will burn him if he moves. When his leg is still in one piece, he slowly moves forward towards Rin- slowly enough to be approaching him, quickly enough to not let him keep lashing out like this.
From there, he takes a deep breath before putting both of his hands on Rin's shoulders and looking at him straight at eye level.]
Come back to me.
[His voice is level and sturdy. His expression and body language show the same thing. Any fear he might have had has been completely blocked out- he would have locked up long before this otherwise.]
[The roar's died down. With everything around them reduced to ashes in this instant, it keeps burning, and right now the two of them are standing in a sea of flames. His teeth are slurring his speech if he would have tried to speak, but he doesn't. Mostly because he can't muster up words. He's crying- frankly, he's not even sure which part it's at right now - He just is.
Silver's words ground him somewhat, and distraught eyes try to focus on the red head. Try, because he can feel the beast boiling within him. Burn everything, he can feel his heart thumbing and what arguably might be his "true" nature telling him how easy it would be to reduce this problematic guy to ashes too. Burn everything. Reduce it ashes]
She- I couldn't even do nothing. [Sob] I wasn't even there!
[Kidnapping. Any other possibility doesn't so much as begin to cross Silver's mind. His mind wanders for a moment before he snaps back into focus- he doesn't have the luxury of thinking about his own kidnapping, or what could be happening to Shiemi, or even how he feels about the entire thing right now.
Right now, he has to deal with the very real problem right in front of him. Not the flames, not the danger. The fact that a friend- yes friend, Rin is a friend- of his is really distressed.]
Quit thinking about what you couldn't do. It's in the past. Things could have turned out better, things could have turned out worse.
In the meantime, there's something you can do right now. The most important thing you can do now is have a little faith in Shiemi.
She's strong, and right where it counts. [To highlight his point, he takes one of his hands off of Rin's shoulders- the other one remains securely there, it's not going anywhere- And lightly taps Rin right on his chest, right over his heart.] She'll be okay. And if not, she has good friends like you to fall back on. [But not if you're like this.]
He had to calm down. He's still sobbing, so he knows he has to calm down, but he can't, he can't. The flames are, again, starting to burn him. Some other cry wells up in his throat. The hands at his side, balled into fists, start to bleed because his fingernails just turned into claws.
You can't trust him. You can't trust anything.
I still can't control it- I'm still too weak- dad!
His upper body slacks forward now, he can't even make eye contact with Silver. His flames are still burning around, but with nothing to burn they're just... there. Kurikara is making more sparking sounds, as the seal on it is pressed some more]
...I really think that, you know. I think you're a good friend. You're kind and caring. You want to see your friends safe and sound. You're beating yourself up over this because of what you could have done. What you would have done. What you didn't do.
[This is way too sappy for his tastes. Part of him is a little glad that Rin isn't looking at his face since he knows how awkward and vulnerable he suddenly feels is plastered all over it.]
The part you're missing is that it's okay to fall down. It's okay to fail. Of course, it's only okay if you can come to terms with it and stand up again.
But no really he's just collecting himself a bit here. The flames are condensing around them. Soon enough he's still bleeding, but the sort stops sparking. The flames are only around Rin now, but so thick that they sort of obscure him. He's breathing heavily]
[Action, August 8th]
So what is it?
[Action, August 8th]
[His teeth gritted, he considers picking up or shoving Silver again. As it is, he just keeps an even and annoyed tone]
