This post is for threading with tsuntrader anytime and anywhere. It can be used for Action or the Ring feature on journals to get in contact with him for personal conversations.
[He only hears the knock because his tirade - the fourth or fifth burst of it - has waned to acerbic muttering as he paces around the statue and shoots acrid glares at it.]
--took everything from me...son of Kra--
[Knock knock. His attention whips to the door, alarmed and suspicious. But he doesn't move to answer it, wondering if he's just imagining the sound.]
[A very, very good chance. This time, he's sure he heard a knock. He approaches the door, warily grasping the handle of his knife, ready to unleash its blade.]
[The silence gets at him. While he's usually comfortable with staying quiet- if not more comfortable with staying quiet instead of speaking- this isn't one of those times.]
You're still alive in there, right? [Or there? Or in one piece? With functioning limbs?]
[He knows that voice, but its familiarity does not ease the tension coiled up inside him, and it only heightens his confusion. He's reached the door now and he pulls it open.] What do you want?
...I survived. [His voice is guarded, but his uncertainty is transparent. He doesn't know what else to say to that, other than the same questions that always rise in his mind, the kind that lead to no answers he can be satisfied with.]
[He had expected to be reprimanded, to be given some shiny plastic speech on how revenge doesn't solve anything, so Silver's answer surprises him into momentary silence. He hides it behind a stony expression.] ...You don't care that I killed someone? Someone from the village?
If the opportunity presents itself again, I won't hesitate to go after it.
[He starts to smirk again, wanting to push away the uncomfortable feeling of freedom that breaks open around him when Silver somehow agrees with him. But then the jagged question that had poked at him back then, as he watched the blood seep from Yuan's body, stabs him again: Wouldn't Martel be disappointed? The result is a hurt grimace.]
The saying's an eye for an eye, not an eye for a head. The worst thing you could do to someone is stop caring about them. Stop giving them that leverage.
Defeating someone over and over doesn't accomplish that. [...] But that's my take on it. I can't tell you what to do.
[Then he'll do that thing where he emphasizes how divergent their views are, to convince himself that he shouldn't want anything to do with Silver.] Ignoring him would only give him peace...and he doesn't deserve such a luxury after everything he's done. He can never be punished enough. [He still believes this, even if...Martel...]
[He scoffs softly.] What difference does it make? [If he drops his grudge against Yuan, his grudge against Kratos, against those who had destroyed him, he would still be alone and miserable.]
Exactly. "What difference does it make" means that it can't make things worse, right? And keeping things the way they are doesn't make anything better.

...But just for good measure, he gives the door one more tentative knock.
Now that he thinks of it, even if Mithos does open the door, there's a good chance that he'll just slam it back in his face, isn't there?]

If you keep going after them now or took it out on half the village, that's something different, but... [Shrug. He can't really judge.]
