[Shikamaru wrings some of the water out of his hair as they walk in, right by the doorway. A black cat appears to the left in the blink of an eye, and Shikamaru reaches down to pet him before marching over to his room, which is down on the end.]

I can get you a towel. You can sit if you want, though, it's no big deal.

[There's a couch here, and a couple of bean bag chairs. And the armchair Masaomi stole from Tony.]

[It's weird to be here. It feels so... So empty in comparison to his home.

...Home. Ha. ...Does Shikamaru really not care about getting stuff wet? ...Well, alright. He nods in response and takes a seat on the floor, at least until Shikamaru returns. While he's waiting, he'll yank off his boots and jacket and put them near the door. Those are thoroughly soaked. ...As an afterthought, his socks come off too... Which might show the unsightly scar on his leg he got a few weeks ago, but whatever.]

[He's back before long, having changed into a dry pair of pants but keeping on the mesh undershirt.]

Tch. You could've picked a bean bag chair, man. [He easily tosses the towel at Silver's head. There's a t-shirt in there too, though he won't be annoyed if he doesn't use it.]

I'm soaking- [Whoa, towel. After pausing for a moment, he starts to dry out his hai- wait, what is this t-shirt for? He holds it out and looks over at Shikamaru for an answer.]

You're drenched. If you're that bothered about making a mess, change.

[Simple as that really. Shikamaru walks off to the other end of the living room, working on airing out his journal.]

[...Well, alright. Off goes his t-shirt too. He goes through his pockets to pull out and dry off his Pokédex and leaves that out as well.

And then he goes to the other side of the living room to join Shikamaru. ...He's unsoaked enough, right? ...Right.

...He's still stubbornly keeping his gloves on, though.]

[He notices, and raises an eyebrow looking at them.]

...What? [Nope, not a bit of acknowledgement about what could possibly be wrong with this picture.]

[Welp, he's not going to make a big deal out of it. Instead he rolls his eyes. Weirdo.]

Never mind.

[...also man, was he that short when he was fourteen? It's kind of weird, given how old all his other friends are.]

Want something to eat? Or we can grab a board game.

[Why are you rolling your eyes, Shikamaru?

...And how in the world did you get that scar? Silver only stares at it for a second, but the seed is there, and now he's tempted to ask about it.]

Whatever you want. [...Tempting, tempting...]

...troublesome. It'd be easier if you just picked.

...I've never played a board game before. [The closest thing he got to playing one was that Mario game.]

...what, seriously?

[...Nod. This is an awkward thing to admit.]

[He stares for another minute, as if this is the weirdest thing he's heard. But then he steps away, back down the hall towards his room again.]

Come on.

[And he quietly follows Shikamaru without a complaint, not really understanding the gravity of the sacrilege he's just spoken.]

[And into the room they go. It's... pretty bare. Bed, drawer. Shogi board on the floor, situated on a turn table. He'd only just put a back a week ago.

But for now he doesn't pay that any mind. Instead he opens his closet.

...there's more board games and the like in there than clothes. He looks proud of it. :T]

[...Whoa. Silver leans forward a little to look at all of them in awe. That many different board games actually exist?]

I favor strategy games, like Go and Shogi. Pai Sho is fun too. [And that board gets a fond smile. Chouji made that for him.] But there's a little of everything. These ones here are easier.

[And in that pile there's everything from Mouse Trap to dominoes, and various card games like Hanafuda, in addition to the usual sets. BASICALLY ANYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF.]

...Shogi was the one you talked about before, right? [Which makes it the only one he's vaguely familiar with. Of course, he did say that these ones are easier, and he's completely unfamiliar with board games, so it's... Probably a good idea to do one of these first, right?]

That's right. [He turns a little, so he can point back towards the bed.] That's the one already out, as I play it often on my own.

On your own? [Why would you play it on your own? Can't you just make Masaomi play it with you or something, Shikamaru?]

[HE PROBABLY DOES SOMETIMES, BUT]

There's not always a good time to find an opponent, so sometimes I play against myself. It's not as fun, but it passes time.
